Meghan Markle has been spotted in London for the first time since moving back to Britain.
The Duchess of Sussex, 45, met up with Malala Yousafzai, 29, on Wednesday, Oct. 7, PEOPLE confirms.
A photo shared on X shows the pair dining together at Claridge’s, the famed hotel in London’s Mayfair neighborhood.
The outing marks Meghan’s first known public sighting in London since she and Prince Harry moved back to Britain with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, on Aug. 26.
Meghan and Malala have a history together. In October 2020, the Duchess and Prince Harry joined the Pakistani activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate for a virtual conversation marking International Day of the Girl, discussing the importance of girls’ education.

“Meghan and I are on the same page: we both believe that when girls have access to education, everyone wins,” Malala shared following their 2020 conversation.
Meghan and the Duke of Sussex, 42, were recently photographed hand-in-hand as they headed into the Falkland Arms pub in the Cotswolds in their first U.K. outing since their move on Oct. 2.
“They were on their own and were treated the same as anyone else,” an insider at the Falkland Arms told PEOPLE, adding that the couple was warmly welcomed during their visit.
Prior to the couple’s outing, Meghan was spotted enjoying an afternoon outing with longtime friends and former Montecito neighbors Ellen DeGeneres, 68, and Portia de Rossi, 53, at The Three Horseshoes, an 18th-century pub near Burford, Oxfordshire on Sept. 21.
The Sussexes have returned to Britain for an extended period, though they maintain their home in Montecito, California.“Step by step, they want to be in the U.K.,” a source close to Harry told PEOPLE for an August cover story. “They want to have the time and give the kids the opportunity to be here.”
